A New Vision
A New Vision

The Good News Center is bringing new life to what has been known as the “Annex” at Auburn UMC. We envision a space to see transformed lives, restored relationships, and flourishing community – this is Good News for all of us! The Good News Center will be home to ministries of whole-life compassionate care. We are excited to see this new space come to life!

More Choices at the Food Pantry
More Choices at the Food Pantry

The food pantry ministry is central to the Good News Center. Our pantry currently uses a hybrid model where guests receive pre-packed boxes of items and then choose additional items from tables. One of the goals of the Good News Center is to transition the pantry to a full choice model where guests select all of their items. Giving choice respects the dignity of our guests, allows them to select foods they like and that fit their diet, and reduces food waste. In addition, new and expanded hours of service are being considered to better accommodate our neighbors with day time jobs.

Growth, Healing, and Community-Building
Growth, Healing, and Community-Building

The Good News Center will create gathering spaces for growth, healing, and community-building:

  • One-on-one or small group counseling, study, and discipling.
  • Wellness or intake assessments.
  • Sharing meals
Valuing Relationships
Valuing Relationships

Relationships are the foundation for ministry at the Good News Center. New relational ministry opportunities will be created along with new opportunities alongside existing community partner ministries. With each interaction, we hope to embody radical hospitality and walk together in Christ-centered discipleship.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Luke 4:18-19
