Confirmation 2023-2024

Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Auburn UMC confirms students when they are in the 6th or 7th grade.

We are excited that you have made the commitment to be a part of the Confirmation Class. Confirmation is a time of discovery, a journey that leads a student to confirm the vows made at their baptism for themselves. At Auburn UMC, all sixth graders, and older youth who have not completed confirmation, are invited to join the Confirmation class. Confirmation classes offer a space to ponder difficult life questions and be open to God, as well as to develop a better understanding of the United Methodist Church. The class will include hands-on experiences like service projects, creative prayer activities, and diverse worship experiences. Confirmands will also have a retreat in January at Camp Marannook. This is a special opportunity to dig even deeper on the big questions and ideas that shape our faith in a way that is accessible and empowering.

The confirmation class meets at 9:30am each Sunday morning during the school year (with a few additional experiences) and is structured with a combination of small group and large group experiences to help young people make meaningful connections with mentors as well as other confirmands.
