Thanksgiving Worship with the Food Pantry

Joe Davis   -

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen… is it not to share your food with the hungry?
Isaiah 58:6,7

It’s that special time of year once again where we reflect on the goodness of God and share our gratitude for God’s faithfulness throughout our lives. And there is something extra special about the way we celebrate at the food pantry. This Friday will be a day of abundant generosity with our community; it will be a day of worship. It might seem strange to think of packing cars with turkeys and food boxes as worship but listen again to the prophet Isaiah: this is the kind of spiritual practice that God truly desires more than anything else. So, as we gather to share and serve, we’ll also gather in a spirit of worship – thanking and praising God for His goodness, His faithfulness, His joy, His kingdom that is coming in Auburn as it is in heaven. What a blessing!

Thanksgiving at the Food Pantry – Thursday Nov 18 and Friday Nov 19!
We are preparing to share Thanksgiving boxes and turkeys with 250 families and we need your help!

  • Come pack dry boxes with us in the Annex social hall room this Thursday Nov 18 starting at 8am. Volunteers can park in the Annex parking lot of Magnolia Ave.
  • There are several ways to help with distribution this Friday Nov 19. All Friday volunteers should park in the Gay St parking lot.
    • 8a – Volunteers unload cold items and turkeys and begin preparing bags of cold items in the drive thru area
    • 9a-11a – Volunteers load cars (**dry boxes weigh 40-50 lbs) and bring dry boxes from the Annex to the drive thru area on carts
