Early Response Team (ERT)

Early Response Teams (ERTs) fill a specific need in the early days after a disaster to clean out flood-damaged homes, remove debris, place tarps on homes, and otherwise help to prevent further damage, while providing a caring Christian presence. ERTs are not a first-response group of emergency workers, nor are they recovery, rebuild, or repair teams. Under very specific guidelines, ERTs assist survivors, without causing further harm or being a burden to the affected community. These teams require an invitation to travel to another district, conference, or jurisdiction. Training is available for adults who desire to meet immediate needs following natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornados and floods in our region. For more information, please contact Keith Foster at keithf@aumc.net or 826-8800

Early Response Team Tarp Day

Next date TBD

We are going to tarp some leaking roofs for Alabama Rural Ministry. If you’re ERT certified this is a great way to get some experience and brush up on your training. It is also a great way to start if you are considering ERT training. All are welcome. We will meet at AUMC at 8AM and finish up around 2PM. Contact Keith Foster keithf@aumc.net 334-319-6024 if you are interested in serving.
