Disaster Recovery Teams

The Disaster Recovery Phase begins after the Early Response Phase.  This is the long term recovery stage of a disaster.  No experience is needed at this stage.  Youth can also participate depending on the situation.  AUMC has a long history of sending Disaster Recovery teams, including teams after Hurricane Ivan and especially Hurricane Katrina, where we sent close to 50 teams for several years after the storm. There are always service opportunities across the Southeast.  If your Sunday school class or small group is interested in serving contact Keith Foster at keithf@aumc.net.

Flood Relief Trip

Back from Baton Rouge…

Our team had a great trip to Baton Rouge to do some flood recovery work. We teamed up with Orchard Park Presbyterian from NY to serve through First United Methodist Baton Rouge working on joists and subfloors and drywall. We were able to make progress on 4 different projects moving those families another step closer to returning to their homes.
