Around the World Weekend is an interactive weekend-trip for all age groups. It is a great way for “beginners” and families to experience life in the majority world without the travel and cost of a mission trip. Through this program, you are provided with an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities with an international perspective, while focusing on the geography and cultural studies of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. These activities take place in a Global Village with replica homes from around the world. Activities may include making tortillas from scratch, adobe bricks, fuel efficient stoves, and third world simulation games. Additionally, this program introduces you to basic and simple Appropriate Technologies. We will be staying in SIFAT’s lodge, which includes a full kitchen, bunk beds, and plenty of bathrooms – it’s comfortable! However, for the ultimate majority world experience you are welcome to spend Saturday night in the country of your choice.
