Prayer & Movement Workshop

September 18, 2022 4:00 - 6:00pm  |  Auburn United Methodist Church

Join us for an afternoon of exploring Movement in Prayer facilitated by Michelle Hamff. Ever wonder about ways of praying? Do you ever feel like you have no words to pray? Remember you don’t always need them to pray. Your body can express for you–this spiritual discipline connects us physically to God. We can release and physically let go, and trust the Holy Spirit will dance, walk, and move your prayer where it needs to go.

In this 2 hour workshop, we will explore ways to express prayers physically; a different way to communicate with God, when we don’t have the words. We will worship, reflect on our own spiritual needs and create and craft authentic movement prayers. No movement experience required; high school, college, young adult, and seasoned adults welcome – there is a place for you!

Wear comfortable clothes, bring a journal and writing utensil, and an open mind ready to try something new!

Michelle Hamff is Program Manager with Leadership Montgomery and has her degree in Dance from the University of Alabama. She is the founder of Sanspointe Dance Company creating dance in Alabama for 20 years. She has served as a camp counselor at Camp Sumatanga for many years and helped to develop movement in worship in multiple North Alabama Methodist Churches. Most recently she facilitated the Movement in Prayer workshop at the United Methodist Women’s Retreat gathering at Blue Lake Camp in October and is humbled to explore this spiritual discipline at Auburn UMC.
