About Kindermusik at AUMC
Kindermusik is the world’s leading
music and movement program for
children from birth to 7 years old.
Research has shown that early music
and movement activities positively
impact whole child development in
areas such as cognitive, emotional,
physical, spatial and literacy
skills. Created by early childhood
music educators and informed by the
latest research in child
development, Kindermusik programs
provide early childhood learning
opportunities through innovative
music and movement curricula and
involve families in the joy of their
child’s development.
Kindermusik curricula are designed
to be developmentally appropriate –
each child is encouraged to learn at
his or her own pace.
The most current research on child
development indicates that a child’s
fundamental learning takes place
between birth and 7 years. At
Kindermusik, we recognize that all
children are musical. One study
referenced in a 1997 article in
Neurological Research indicated
that music training is far superior
to computer instruction in
dramatically enhancing children’s
abstract reasoning skills, the
skills necessary for learning math
and science.
Kindermusik is the community of
families and teachers passionately
committed to bringing music to
children's lives through
developmentally appropriate
curricula, CDs, books, instruments,
and activities for our classes and
for family time at home.
Every child should experience the
joy, fun, and learning which music
brings to life!
About Our Staff
Karen Bellah was raised in a family
that enjoyed sharing music. Karen
has a Bachelor degree in Theatre
Arts from Florida Southern College.
After graduation, Karen moved to NYC
and from there she performed as a
professional actress, singer, and
dancer in musical theatre for over
11 years from New York City to
Florida.
For the last 14 years,
Karen has enjoyed teaching private
voice lessons, piano classes and
drama. She’s directed children’s
choirs at church and school, and has
been choreographer for musical
theatre productions and show
choirs. She is energized by her
love of music and young children.
Karen is thrilled to now teach the
highly respected and established
Kindermusik in Auburn. She
sincerely believes positive musical
experiences for children and their
families will provide a lifelong
love of music and a foundation for
future learning in all areas of
development.
Music has always been a huge part of
Patti Hanson’s life. She began
piano at the age of five and not
surprisingly, majored in music at
Auburn University with a minor in
voice. Patti’s degree is in piano
pedagogy/secondary music education.
Over the years, Patti has
participated with various civic and
church groups as either accompanist,
choral member or soloist which
provided a wide variety of
repertoire from the classics to
jazz. Her favorite venue has always
been working with children and youth
and developing their natural love
and appreciation for music. Patti is
very excited about bringing
Kindermusik to Auburn United
Methodist Church and sharing the
magic of music that lasts a
lifetime.
