Sunday School Classes  at 9:30 a.m.

The Babe McGehee Class is a large, diverse class with an excellent Bible study led by Fred Lacy, Mike Golden and James Cox.  This class, in a lecture format, is involved in an intensive study of the Bible with an emphasis on the New Testament.  This dynamic class offers warm fellowship and spiritual growth.  An annual Christmas social, as well as other special events, adds fellowship to this group.  This class meets in Room A102 and the contact person for this class is Sam McCord (887-8045).

The Frances McGehee/Friendship Class is a senior adult women’s class.  The International Bible lesson books are used for weekly studies and are led by excellent teachers.  They support several mission projects and enjoy occasional socials during the year.  You will enjoy the caring and casual atmosphere of this class, and are most welcome to come visit!  This class meets in the Annabel Lee Room A115 located near Hamill Court and the contact person is Dee Driscol (887-6934).

The Jim Douglas Home Improvement Class is a class for young to middle-aged married couples seeking to incorporate biblical values into their marriage.  This class is led by Gary and Marcia Webb and class members.  Monthly supper clubs and other social activities provide a time for fellowship.  This class meets in Room B237 and the contact people are Robert & Rebecca McDaniel (501-1555).

The Joel McDavid Class studies the International Lesson Series.  It is led by a variety of outstanding teachers, most of whom are members of the class.  This class really enjoys singing and opens each class with a hymn sing.  Occasional socials are enjoyed by this friendly class and visitors are always welcome.  This class meets in Room A01 (Lower level) and the contact person is Cathy Clark (821-5341).

The Charles Britt Class honors the memory of former AUMC minister and Auburn University educator, Rev. Charles Britt.  Following the example he set, the class seeks to understand the Christian faith by examining a wide range of subjects including: biblical scholarship, archaeological evidence, church history, current and sometimes controversial theological ideas, social issues and the great diversity of religious beliefs.  Discussion is led by members of the class and occasionally by invited guest speakers.  The class is also active in supporting local community agencies, such as the East Alabama Food Bank.  All are welcome.  This class meets in Room A12 (Lower level) and the contact people are Gene Bramlet (821-9591) and Sonny Dawsey (887-9057).

New Directions is a class for young couples.  Teacher Sarah Goolsby leads courses of study including foundations for a strong Christian marriage and family, as well as Bible study.  This class meets in Room A106 and the contact person is Sarah Goolsby (826-8800).

Food for the Soul is a class organized by AUMC Food Pantry volunteers.  The class is an informal discussion with a moderator from the group.  Men and women of all ages, married or single are welcome.  The material for discussion is chosen by the class.  This class meets in Room A207 and the contact person is Starling Grisham (745-6163).

Journey Bible Study Class is based on a quarterly formatted study series that walks one through the Bible.  The class utilizes a combination of lecture and discussion to explore the New Testament book-by-book.  Occasional socials are enjoyed by this close-knit class.  Adults of all ages, married or single, are warmly welcome.  This class meets in Room B241 and the contact person is Kayron Campbell (826-7404).

Common Ground is an open-minded class that explores basic Christian ideas and how to apply them to everyday life.  This class is for young to middle-aged couples who want to step back from life’s distractions and examine what they believe, what makes them similar and different, and how they can reflect on these concepts and become better people.  This class meets in Room B231 and the contact person is Matt Carter (821-4104).
