Costa Rica | July 14 - 21, 2012
This intergenerational trip will work with the Rice and Beans Ministry’s www.riceandbeansministries.com ongoing food distribution, construction, and Bible School programs. Rice and Beans' vision for ministry is that building relationships with the local communities where they are working is a great way to bring people to Christ. They do this by including the local congregations in the outreach programs that go hand in hand with the mission projects. An informational meeting will be scheduled for January. For more information, contact Glenn Glover at glover@auburn.edu or 703-1115. Participation is limited to 20. Cost is $1500.
Costa Rica, San Jose | August 25 - September 1, 2012
This intergenerational trip will continue the work of the last two years in San Jose with the construction of the Methodist Children's Home and providing vacation Bible schools to local neighborhoods. AUMC began working with local missionaries during the foundational stages of the Children's Home project, and this trip should find the team celebrating the completion of the project's first home and beginning the second. For more information, please contact Shanda Foster at sf6082@att.com and visit www.fairclothcostarica.com for more information about this project. Participation is limited to 20. Cost is $1500.
Costa Rica Project Background
AUMC recently partnered with Will and Ella Faircloth, missionaries from Georgia who have served the Methodist Church of Costa Rica for the past five years, to help with the construction of a Methodist Children's Home in the capital of San Jose. The goal of the Home is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children who have been declared legally abandoned. The Faircloths hope by early 2010 to receive about 25 children, who will live in three houses with a set of house parents in each house. We are very excited to be involved with the very beginnings of this project, and look forward to working with the Faircloths (along with several other churches around the country) to see it to completion.
